The Kalahari Meerkat Project
The social system of meerkats is similar to that of banded mongooses in many ways, but there are also a number of intriguing differences. In particular, unlike banded mongooses, in meerkat groups reproduction is usually restricted to a single dominant female. Prof Tim Clutton-Brock and colleagues from Cambridge University have been studying a population of meerkats in the Kalahari for over 15 years. See here for a link to their project website.
